Dear Dino-mites and Parents,
It is my honor to serve as the Jefferson Elementary School principal. On behalf of the Jefferson
Elementary School staff, it is our pleasure to welcome you back to Jefferson! We are excited to
have you as part of our JES school family! I hope this summer was a restorative time spent with
those you love. While we all love summer, we are preparing for the start of a new school year.
We look forward to your children joining us this fall.
This year, we will be hosting another transition day for our Kindergarten students. This serves
as a day of orientation and relationship building while being the only students in the school. For
our Kindergarteners, we invite both students and parents to our First Day Celebration on
Wednesday, August 14th. Kindergarten students will have a shortened day from 8:15-1:15 on
the first day. As per usual, for our Kindergarten celebration, our buses will not run. Students will
need to be dropped off and picked up from school. On Thursday, August 15th, we will welcome
all students back to Jefferson with a First Day Celebration for our 1st and 2nd grade students.
This will be a regular-length school day running from 8:15-3:15, and buses will run as usual. The
following will be the schedule for both days:

- 7:45-8:15: Outside on the playground meeting staff, eating muffins, and playing
- 8:15-9:00: Open house time in the classrooms, unpacking belongings, etc.
- 9:00-9:30: Parent meeting in the gym with Mr. Swanson
To stay up to date with all the events happening at JES, I highly recommend you download the
Glendive Public Schools app. It is the best way to receive news and information from our
school. The Jefferson website, www.jesglendive.com, is also a great place to look. The website
has information like the calendar, upcoming events, contact information for staff, the student
handbook, and the school supply list. We also utilize the Rooms application for communication.
